Tier Achieved:
Amazing food. Hygiene score you can forgive.
The food slaps and hygiene is "Good" — not perfect, but nothing to worry about. Go for it.
Saucy Bastards at The Newman Arms is your typical English pub, with more charm than a rom-com lead and a hygiene rating of 5. Upstairs, they whip up pies that could make a grandmother weep. The beef shank pie is the pièce de résistance, as Chris Blake can confirm. The atmosphere is lively, especially when the Christmas crowds roll in, and the service, especially from the French waiter, has been noted to be on point. You might even find yourself sitting next to someone who thinks they’re Jack the Ripper reincarnated.
However, this place isn’t without its downsides. D&D found the setup a tad cramped and the ambiance a bit worn, while A. Kumar noted their menu was thinner than a pancake on a diet. Still, if you’re craving a pie and pint in a spot that’s got a bit of history, it’s worth a stop. Just don’t be surprised if the beer’s a bit dodgy. 😐
"Chose the beef shank pie which was highly recommended. Didn’t disappoint."
"Tasty food, good atmosphere and great service."
"Tried the pies last time and it was excellent."
