Tier Achieved:
Clean. Reliable. Does the job.
The "lights out missionary" of food. Spotless kitchen, decent grub. Won't blow your mind, won't disappoint.
Chingford Chinese has been a staple for locals, but sitting down? That's a hard pass. The food is generally solid, with some standout dishes like the aromatic crispy duck, but others are hit or miss. Special fried rice? A safe choice, and the price is a steal for the amount you get. But let’s not gloss over the dry roast duck—if I wanted to chew on something tougher than a leather shoe, I’d have gone to the shoe shop instead.
Not to mention the unfortunate few who found their dishes lacking seasoning, or even worse, just plain bad. Some diners are clearly singing its praises, while others are left feeling like they walked into a culinary black hole. Just tread carefully when ordering; you might hit the jackpot or you might end up with a plate of disappointment.
"Food is nice in general."
"Best Chinese I’ve had in 10 years!"
"Roast duck was really dry."
