Tai Wu Restaurant is like that mate who boasted about their dim sum, and then you find out they skipped on flavor. Sure, the har gau and char siu bao are decent, and the friendly staff—shout out to Jamal for his long-standing loyalty—keep the vibe amiable. But if you're expecting the Hong Kong experience, you might want to adjust your expectations. It's a bit of a mixed bag, with some dishes like the mooli cake hitting a soft note that’s less than stellar. Still, if you’re craving dim sum in a pinch, it’s a safe landing.

Digging deeper, the pork chop special gets a nod, but others found things lacking. From cold dim sum to awkwardly thick siu lung baos, it seems like some dishes might need a pep talk. If you’re not fussed about top-tier dim sum, and just want a casual meal, Tai Wu will do the trick, albeit with a few culinary hiccups along the way.
