Damascene Bakery is where you go for a taste of the Levant without the airplane ticket. Rawan and Sheer are singing praises about the pastries and breakfast menu like they’ve found the secret to happiness. The staff are friendly, and the vibe is just nice—who doesn’t love a bit of mint tea with their meal? But, a little warning: it can get cramped if you roll in with a big group. Just keep it small, and you’re golden.

However, not everyone felt the love. Mujib Meister had some service hiccups, and he was left a bit salty after missing thyme in his mana’eesh. But honestly, with universally good food, it’s hard to stay mad for long. Just maybe don’t bring your entire football team unless you want an awkward waiting game.
