🏠 1 The Cloisters, Cathedral Close, Exeter, EX1 1HS
Tier Achieved:
Clean. Reliable. Does the job.
The "lights out missionary" of food. Spotless kitchen, decent grub. Won't blow your mind, won't disappoint.
The Chapter House Refectory is a bit like that friend who's nice but kind of bland. Erika and Adrian think the place is lovely, and they clearly enjoyed the unique setting, especially when lunching in the sun. Izzy found the food generally good but craved a bigger menu. Sandra had a lovely hot chocolate but was slightly traumatized by the loo situation – apparently, it’s a free-for-all with the doors. If you're after a charming spot with a good coffee and a quiet atmosphere, you might like it here.
However, don't expect fireworks. The food quality varies, and some patrons like Lee and Tammy found the offerings just okay, with a few complaints about slow service and decor that’s seen better days. If you're looking to impress someone, maybe consider a different venue unless you want to settle for mediocrity.
"We love this cafe especially as the setting is so extraordinary."
"Excellent for coffee lunch and afternoon tea."
"It's really nice there and the food is great."
