For the germaphobe whose motto is 'food is fuel'.
Spotless kitchen, rubbish food. Won't get sick. Might wish you had. Emergency calories only.
Jar Bakery is the kind of place that leaves you saying, 'Well, that was mildly sad.' With a pristine 5/5 hygiene score, you’d expect more than just lukewarm pasties and overwhelmed staff. Amaryllis found the service charming, with Izzy making tea and Chelsea buns, but a glance at the menu reveals a kitchen that seems to be on a permanent coffee break. The café's temperature, as noted by several diners, could rival an oven—definitely not ideal for enjoying a warm pastry.
Sadly, the unfortunate feedback about the food quality is hard to ignore. Rachael and Daniel's experiences were reminiscent of a bad school cafeteria, and the complaints about the staff lacking coordination and food being served at unsafe temperatures raised some eyebrows. If you're just after a cup of tea and a friendly chat, swing by—just don't expect anything too exciting on the plate.
"I had a tea which was alright."
"The Chelsea bun was soft, light and not at all dry."
"I was very impressed."
