Tier Achieved:
For the germaphobe whose motto is 'food is fuel'.
Spotless kitchen, rubbish food. Won't get sick. Might wish you had. Emergency calories only.
Apothecary Tea Rooms is the charming place that could be a quaint storybook cafe, if only it didn’t have such hit-or-miss reviews. Adi loved the warm welcome from the owners, but Claire hit a wall when she found a lack of poached eggs on the menu. It’s a mixed bag of decent meals and serious letdowns. Heather made the mistake of expecting much but ended up just okay—perfect for when your stomach is growling but not for the discerning foodie.
The owner’s friendliness is a plus, but that can’t save you from poorly executed dishes. If you can find it in your heart to embrace the chaos, you might have a decent meal. Just know that if you’re not desperate, you might want to steer clear. In short, it’s a place to fill your belly, but don’t expect Michelin-starred magic.
"I was greeted very warmly by the owners."
"Good choice of menu although no poached eggs as requested."
"The food was lovely and just what was needed."
